Fen’s Dream

Fen thought about other people, particularly the underprivileged or the minority. He loved children and found joy in their joy.

His dream was to build a better future for the disadvantaged. By build he meant actual hands on construction of homes, schools and community centres. He thought it would be a great achievement if the money that was raised went straight to the community’s that needed it most.

Our Story

In his last year of study, Fen and other final year students went to Koh Romdual, an island near Phnom Penh in Cambodia. The students worked there to build a community centre and this experience inspired Fen, and his close friend and fellow student, Tom Jenkins, to continue their involvement at Koh Romdual.

Location-Focused Solutions

Our involvement in Cambodia is focused on the island of Koh Romdual. What started out as a community build, we have morphed into a complete solution to help provide education, shelter and aid to those in need.

Heartfelt Collaboration

We work closely with the local community with regular boots on the the ground and a pathway of continuous improvement to ensure no dollar or second is wasted.

Quality and Reliability

All projects undertaken follow strict compliance and safety protocols for the protection of both the volunteers and the people on the island. This ensure our builds last for years providing an ongoing positive impact on the community.

University of Technology Sydney

In 2007, Dr. Michael Er, from the University of Technology Sydney created the subject “Building in Developing Communities”

This subject provided a platform for undergraduates from construction, architecture and design degrees to travel to developing communities within Australia and overseas and to provide assistance through infrastructure and building projects.

Koh Romdual

Koh Romdual is an island approximately 20 kilometres outside of Phnom Penh

The island has a dark and decorated history being used as a prison / mental asylum for years, to try and “re-educate” those who were sent there. In 2008 this was all shut down by the United Nations and it was not long after this that we started providing the help we could.

Meet the Fenwick Foundation

Our team is a select group of volunteers, all of whom were close to Fen, looking to continue Fen’s legacy and ensure the work he wanted to carry out is achieved.
